Editor’s Take

The hot yoga at 35°C is genuinely challenging — hydrate seriously and bring a towel. Reformer classes are small and book out fast, especially the 12:30 lunchtime slot. The canteen's grain bowls are the best post-class fuel nearby.

About

Club Lulu is a deliberate provocation against the Scandinavian minimalism that dominates Paris wellness design. Four hundred square metres near Palais-Royal are dressed in a 1950s pop aesthetic — bold colours, playful graphics, retro-modern furniture — that makes you smile before you've even started sweating. It's a space with actual personality, and in a city where new fitness studios tend to look like they were all designed by the same person, that personality is worth something. The programming packs ambition into compact square footage. Three dedicated studios each serve a distinct discipline: Reformer Pilates on proper machines, hot yoga at 35°C in a purpose-built heated room, and a dance studio running everything from barre to contemporary. The hammam provides recovery and ritual, steaming away the effort of a 35-degree vinyasa. The canteen, rather than the typical smoothie bar, serves actual food — the kind of thoughtful, nourishing menu that respects the effort you've just put in. Club Lulu's crowd reflects its design: creative, young, unapologetically fun. The Palais-Royal location draws fashion and media workers who want their fitness to have the same energy as the rest of their lives. Class sizes are intimate — the studios are studios, not warehouses — and that intimacy builds community fast. Regulars know each other by name within weeks. The whole operation has the confidence of a place that knows exactly who it's for and doesn't apologise for not being for everyone else.
